Promo CD Review by Lucy
  Original www.josaka.co.uk review

I've had this CD for a quite a while now, and it has been getting a fair bit of playtime in my house. Off The Radar are a three piece all male band comprising of guitar, bass and drums.

Their 3 track CD opens with 'Making Waves' which would be an excellent song at the beginning of an independent movie. You can imagine it playing alongside the opening credits with a boy cycling down an urban street scene or perhaps playing in the background of a trendy coffee shop.

'Spanner in the Works' starts with really groovy guitar. With extremely catchy lyrics it only takes a couple of hearings before you find yourself singing along. Some great drum fills just add to the overall sound that gels this band's creation. Even with the change of time signatures this song is still really tight.

'Taking Over', again another very catchy song, with huge hints of brit-pop. I really like all the 'oohs' and 'oows'.

Overall 'Off the Radar' are producing a very popular sound right now. A mix of old brit-pop, Ash and with a splash of Supergrass. However you wish to compare their music it is still very original and instantly likeable. The band have produced an excellent CD, the sound quality is really good, and I think the mix is just spot on but more importantly the songs are great too. And even though I have finally got around to writing this review, I will still continue to listen to their CD and try to catch them live.

You can get your hands on a copy of this CD at gigs or through their website, I believe they are free!!!
